Planetary motion is hard to picture—until it moves
See planetary motion in a working display — 9 planets including Pluto, 28 moons, battery-powered movement, visible solid-brass gears
Why is this model perfect for you?
✔ A moving model of the solar system: Watch the Moon orbit Earth as Earth moves around the Sun. The model includes all 9 planets, including Pluto, and 28 moons, making planetary motion tangible and supporting hands-on learning about celestial mechanics.
✔ Visible brass gear mechanism: The mechanism beneath the revolving planets is fully visible, showcasing solid brass gears. Mercury completes a model revolution in about 4 seconds, while Pluto takes about 4 hours, illustrating the difference in their orbital periods.
✔ Detailed materials and craftsmanship: Stone spheres form the Sun, planets, and moons, while a twelve-sided oak drum houses the gearbox. An engraved brass calendar and zodiac ring, 12 solid brass feet, and a removable brass armillary hemisphere complete the display. Measures 7 inches high by 5 inches wide and deep.
